News items and press releases, including announcements of higher-up staffing appointments, retirements, or other institutional changes (preferably 50 to 400 words), and reports of Quaker events or gatherings (400 to 500 words) are welcome. Friends Journal's News column covers only past events and news that has already happened or is unfolding; it is a great place to submit news related to monthly, quarterly, and yearly meetings; individual Friends schools, colleges, and universities; and Quaker retirement communities. News about organizations that qualify for our semiannual Quaker Works column (published in the April and October issues) will usually not be considered for the more regular News column. Content is subject to editing for space and style; publication cannot be guaranteed. If you have relevant photos, please upload the files along with the submission; photos will be considered depending on space constraints.
